Developing the Mustang SVO Body Kit for Ford's Special Vehicle Operations

Back in 1983, Dave Craddock designed and built the original Ford Mustang SVO flared fenders!
Ford's "Special Vehicle Operations" department was charged with developing high performance
solutions, whether they might be production option packages or aftermarket components.

In 1983, Dave Craddock's company was called Arnold Industries. Arnold Industries was hired
by a company called Bojax Collision, who in turn was a supplier to Ford Motorsport. Arnold
Industries built Ford SVO authorized Mustang body kits back in the day.

Master Modeler Paul Fink holds a prototype fiberglass rear quarter panel up to a Mustang GT.

The Ford Mustang SVO was a limited-production variant of the Mustang sold from 1984 through 1986.
With a turbocharger, the SVO's four cylinder engine produced as much horsepower as Ford's big V8.
The SVO also came with a four wheel disc brakes, adjustable KONI shocks, and many other upgrades.

Flared fenders were a popular aftermarket upgrade for Mustangs. SVO-style flared fiberglass
fenders were available through Ford Motorsport. Now the original design is back in production!
Preform Resources' Fiberglass Ford Mustang Body Kit

Preform Resources offers the only genuine SVO-style fenders available anywhere for Fox-body Mustangs.

The front fenders (as featured in this view) are designed to bolt on.

These generously flared fenders let you fit great big wide tires!

I know you're wondering... the car you see in the background here is a Fabcar GTP racecar.

The rear panels (as featured in this view) are designed to be glued on.

Interesting trivia: the very first SVO fenders were built for a specific Ford Mustang racecar.
That racecar was known as the "Norton Mustang" because it was sponsored by Norton Abrasives.
(An American sandpaper company, Norton Abrasives was acquired by a French company in 1990.)
